paiN defeated TYLOO 2–1 in the BLAST Rivals 2025 Season 2 group-stage elimination match and secured a place in the quarterfinals. After the series, kyotostxr spoke with Lucas nqz Soares about beating the Chinese side for the second time in a short period, the rivalry with FURIA, international rosters in South America, biguzera’s influence, and a possible destination for a future Major.

Congratulations on the win! What changed since your previous meeting with TYLOO at IEM Chengdu?

The veto changed first of all. They picked a different map, and I think that was a good decision for them because we are not that comfortable on Ancient, especially on the T side. I think we are doing well on the CT side.
That was probably the main thing that changed. Of course, they wanted to take revenge on us for Chengdu. But they know our playstyle, we know theirs, and the game simply flowed from there.

Is it difficult to face the same team twice in a short period? Do you feel that you need to change things so they cannot predict you?

There are always some mind games, but we try not to focus on them too much. We simply want to play our own game.
If they think about preparing anti-strats, we obviously change certain things as well. It can work for either side, so I do not think it is a big issue.

What happened on the final map? Was TYLOO’s comeback more about them playing well or mistakes on your side?

Both things, in my opinion. The T side on Overpass is especially difficult.
We knew that winning the pistol would give us a big advantage, but we lost it, as well as the following force buy. After that, the T side became very rough.
