After BETBOOM Team defeated Astralis at FISSURE Playground 3 in Suzhou, MN spoke with Kirill Boombl4 Mikhailov about the difficult opening map, Astralis’ unexpected Anubis pick, and the team’s unsuccessful EWC campaign. The captain also explained why he dislikes playing without a crowd, recalled the brightest and most painful moments of his career, and assessed his individual form at the start of the season.

First of all, congratulations on the victory. The opening map went to overtime and was extremely difficult. What went wrong?

I would say that on the CT side there were still rounds that we lost even though we should have won them. It felt like we were reading what was happening on the map. A 7:5 scoreline was not the best outcome we could have had, but overall we were playing well. On the T side, we did not really find the key to taking control of middle. It was not working, and after that we started making mid-round changes in situations that do not happen very often. We found ourselves in a new kind of situation. The map still went to overtime. I am happy with the way we played and made decisions. It was simply something new for us, and Astralis also played well.

After the opening map, the players were slightly amused that Astralis’ psychologist entered the playing area. As an experienced player, does it bother you when extra people are around during a match? How do the younger players react to it?

I do not care at all. I do not know how anyone on my team reacted. They probably just noticed it. I think they do not really care either.

You have now played in the studio without spectators for two days in a row. Are you more comfortable competing in an arena? How does the absence of a crowd affect the team?
