After MIBR defeated 9z at FISSURE Playground 3 in Suzhou, AndU spoke with Lucas nqz Soares about the convincing series and his adaptation to the new team. The Brazilian AWPer also discussed switching to English communication, MIBR’s football warm-up routine, his first impressions of tomaszin, the differences between MIBR and paiN, and named the best teammates of his career.
Congratulations on the victory! Tell us a little about the match.
I am feeling really good. We managed to play both maps really well. We played as a team: our teamwork, strategies, and mentality for the game were all at a very good level. I think we were already very confident before entering the match. We knew that if we managed to do what we had planned, we could get the win. I did not expect it to be this quick. With no disrespect to 9z, we managed to win both maps in a dominant fashion, so I am really happy.

How is your adaptation to the new team going?
I am struggling a little bit, I am not going to lie. It is a completely different system from the one I used to play in at paiN. I also have to communicate in a language that is not my native one, which has been difficult. But I am really happy because everyone is working hard to help me adapt in the best way possible. I am really enjoying my time with the boys. They are not only very sharp and excellent players inside the server, but also good friends and nice people to be around outside it. So far, it has been really good.

How difficult is it to communicate in English during matches?
Whenever all five of us are alive, we speak English. We also try to speak English as much as possible outside the server. But whenever we get into those two-versus-two or three-versus-three situations, we just switch to Portuguese. Fuck it — we just want to win the round, and that is the best way to do it. Still, I think everyone is improving on the English side of things.
