Astralis lost 1–2 to Vitality in the IEM Chengdu 2025 quarterfinals and were eliminated from the tournament. After the match, kayo spoke with Jakob jabbi Nygaard about a difficult season, the team’s goals for the upcoming Major, his first months alongside Magisk, the roster’s future, and the support of the Chinese fans.

First of all, how would you assess the team’s overall results this season? What do you think Astralis are missing, or are you simply still on the way toward success?

I think we have had a tough season. We had to change a player in the middle of it because we did not really have another choice.
The results have not been as good as we wanted. But we still have the Major left, so maybe we can achieve a good result there.

jabbi

What expectations do you have for the upcoming Major?

It is difficult to say right now. Obviously, we want to do the best we can, but we do not really have any specific expectations or goals yet because we have not discussed them.
At the same time, everyone obviously wants to reach the playoffs.

jabbi

So would reaching the playoffs be a great result for you?

Yes.

jabbi

You have been playing with Magisk for around two months. Do you already feel a connection in the game, and are the right vibes there?

We have been playing together for around two months. There are still many things that we have not had the chance to discuss.
We still have a lot to improve, but Magisk is a really good player. I enjoy spending time and playing with him.
