Alliance upset FaZe in their opening match at FISSURE Playground 3 in Suzhou and advanced through the Group B upper bracket, where Legacy will be their next opponent. After the victory, AndU spoke with Swedish player Jonatan bobeksde Persson about the preparation for FaZe, the upcoming match against Legacy, Alliance’s expectations for the event, and the most memorable moments of his career.
How did the match against FaZe go? That was something incredible.
Honestly, I do not even know. I think we prepared really well before the tournament and especially for the match against FaZe. We talked everything through in detail and built a solid game plan. So I think it came down to that, as well as everyone on our team shooting really well today. I would say those were the two main factors.

How did you get to Suzhou? Do you like the city? Did you have a bootcamp before the tournament?
We did not have a bootcamp before this tournament. We just practiced for two weeks before leaving. The flight was long: from Sweden to Helsinki, then onward to Shanghai, and from there we took a bus here. But overall, the trip went well.

You will face Legacy in your next match. What do you think about that opponent?
I think it will be an interesting, fun match. They have a really good team right now after upgrading their AWPer. Things are going really well for them. It will be a tough match, but if we play the same way we did today, I think we can definitely win.

We joke that there were two twists in this match: twist on Alliance and Twistzz on FaZe. Do you joke about that inside the team as well?
